SPRING DECOR PICKS TO REFRESH OUR BOOKCASES

Christmas is finally packed away and I’m getting the itch to add some new decor to our bookcases for spring. I don’t need a ton of new pieces but want to freshen up what we already have by adding in a few new key items.

Lighting has been top of my list for a bit now and I’ve been trying to narrow down the perfect cordless lamps to add to our bookcases. I’m also looking for ways to add storage and organization in and outside our bookcases and love the additional texture these rattan boxes would add. The marble trays would be perfect for corraling smaller items too. Art is always on my mind and an easy way to change up the feel of a space. I’m looking for prints that not only bring in a bunch of color, but also add those spring vibes to my decor.

Items I’m Eyeing for a Spring Decor Refresh

1. Rattan Boxes – I’ve had my eye on a set of boxes like these for literally a couple of years now. The set I originally wanted was double the price of these and seemed to always be out of stock. I ended up purchasing something on a whim at Target recently and it just isn’t working for me. I think it’s finally time to bite the bullet and get what I originally wanted. I love the little buckle closure on these and the color of the rattan. I think these would also bring a really interesting texture to the bookcases as well.
2. Rosso Marble Tray – I love a good tray. Layered into a bookcase, it is the perfect way to highlight a group of items. It draws your eye in and visually gives the cue that these items are a grouping and belong together. Giving what could look like a random display of objects a bit of structure and purpose. I’ve been drawn to red lately and have been looking for ways to add just a touch here and there in our home.
3. Calacatta Viola Scalloped Marble Tray – The color of this marble is one of my faves. I love the heavy veining and the scalloped edge adds a fun little detail. If I need a tray on one of our bottom shelves, this one would be perfect to show off those special details.
4. 11.5″ Black Tripod Easel – I have a few art easels on hand but you can never have too many. I really love the simple, modern design of this one. It won’t take anything away from the art or plate on displaying and will allow that item to shine. Also available in 14″.
5. 12″ Cordless Table Lamp with Red Pleated Shade – I’ve been eyeing up cordless table lamps for a while now and have quite a few saved to my Amazon wish list. I have a little lamp tucked into the bottom shelf of our bookcase but it’s wired and hard to hide the cord. I think 1 or 2 of these lamps placed throughout the bookcases would add some cozy library vibes to the space. I’m leaning toward an antique brass base and love the pop of red from the shade.
6. 8″x10″ Bed of Poppies Framed Canvas Print – Speaking of red, isn’t this print stunning? It would look so good layered on one of our shelves. If I decide to go with one of the lamps with a red shade, this would pair nicely. Bringing that pop of red to another spot in the bookcases to draw your eye in and tie all the decor together.
7. 25″ Artificial Eucalyptus Leaves Stems – I already own a set of these and LOVE them. They come in a pack of 6 and right now I use them in my greenery at Christmas time in our guest bedroom. I just tuck them in to add a bit more texture and interest. Now that Christmas is packed away, I’m thinking of repurposing them into a vase in the bookcases.
8. Framed Rose Bouquet Still Life Art Print – Another great framed print I was drawn to. I love the moody vibes of this one and the more muted burgundy-red foliage. It’s going to be hard to decide. Maybe I get both?
9. Oval Viola Marble Tray – Another beautiful marble tray with a more burgundy-red veining throughout. I love the shape of this one but it may be too small for our bookcases. I was thinking it would look really beautiful styled with a candle and matches. If it doesn’t work in the bookcase I could always use it as a catchall on my nightstand.
10. 6.3″ Ceramic Blue and White Chinoiserie Floral Vase – I LOVE blue and white. I already own quite a few pieces and have some of them already displayed in our bookcase. These just might be too good to pass up though. I love the ginger jar shape of this one and the chinoiserie pattern is really beautiful.
11. 18″ Artificial Olive Branches – These are the other faux floral stems I own. These come in a pack of 5 and I use them in my Christmas greenery as well. I love the faux olives and the coloring of the leaves. I’m going to try mixing the 2 and displaying them in a vase. They would be the perfect way to bring a bit of those spring vibes to our decor.
12. Blue and White Vintage Floral Ceramic Vase – I was really drawn to the shape of this vase and love the pattern on this one as well. I don’t think there’s such a thing as too much blue and white and love the idea of this one styled in our bookcase with the faux floral stems. *adds to cart*
13. Set of 2 Cordless Lamps – When I started looking for cordless lamps, this beautiful set popped up. I love the red pleated shades. At first, I wished there was an option to purchase 1 instead of having to buy the set. This might actually be perfect though and would allow me to add a bit of symmetry which I love to do. They are 15.7″ tall and would also add height to my displays.
14. 7″ Satin Gold Metal Easel – Another great simple art easel. I love the finish of this one and the size is perfect for a plate or smaller piece of art. You can also purchase individually or up to six in a set. If this is your first time using an art easel you may like the option to purchase more at a discount. Once you have one you’ll want more to use in other spaces. Trust me. It’s so much fun to style with and a great way to add height to a display in an interesting way.
15. Black and White Marble Tray – I’m always drawn to black and white marble and I especially love this piece. Even though the veining is a bit softer it’s masculine in feel and would be a great addition to our bookcase. The space is mostly used by Mike when he wants to game or watch football. I’m always looking for ways to add more masculine items into the mix to balance out some of the more feminine pieces I may want.
16. Rattan and Woven Cane Boxes – I was drawn to this set of rattan boxes as well. I like that there is a bit of cane mixed in with the rattan. I also like the look of the inset glass on the top of the lids. I’m just not sure if I want to be able to see what’s in the boxes or have the ability to hide like I can with the first set.
17. 11″ Black Metal Tripod Easel – A little bit larger than the gold easel, this is another great option for displaying art. You can also get it in 2 additional sizes, 13″ and 15″ if you want something a bit bigger.
18. 16″ Antique Brass Cordless Table Lamp – Another beautiful antique brass cordless lamp but with a simple white pleated lamp shade. This was one of the first lamps I saved to my wish list and is still a fav. I love the pop of red the others bring but I also love the quiet of this one. It would allow the other items around it to shine and could also easily be moved into other rooms if needed.
19. 9.8″ Antique Brass Cordless Table Lamp – I’m not sure yet if I want a taller lamp, a smaller one, or a mix of the two. I love the traditional feel of this one and the white simple shade. I think it would look really lovely tucked up in a corner of one of the upper shelves where the spacing is a bit smaller
20. Vintage Gold Framed Canvas Print Daisies and Cornflowers – My favorite color is blue and this framed art print featuring daisies and cornflowers is just beautiful. I want to layer lots of color into this space via the furnishings and textiles as well as with the art and this piece could be perfect.
