Blue and White Pottery from Amazon That Looks Like Antique Store Finds

If you’ve spent any time in my home or on this blog, you know blue and white pieces are everywhere. On the bookshelves, on the dining room table, tucked into vignettes throughout the house. Blue is my favorite color, so it’s really no surprise that blue and white pottery has become the thing I’m always hunting for.

It started with plates. I wanted a plate wall and started collecting blue and white pieces to fill it. But once you start, it’s hard to stop. Ginger jars, small vases, platters, lidded jars. The collection just keeps growing.

What draws me to a piece is hard to explain exactly, but I usually know right away. I’m drawn to softer, mid-tone blues rather than anything too dark or too bright. Delicate floral patterns that feel like an English garden. Intricate designs that reward a closer look. And that slightly aged, slightly imperfect quality that tells you a piece has some history to it. The scalloped rim, the crackled glaze, the pattern that looks like it was hand-painted rather than printed by a machine.

I also try to keep in mind what I already have. After years of collecting, I have a lot of pieces, which means I’m pretty selective. Does it work with what I already own? Does it add something different? A new shape, a slightly different shade, a pattern I don’t already have?

The thing is, finding the right pieces at thrift stores and antique shows takes patience. You never know what you’re going to find, and sometimes you go months without seeing anything worth bringing home. That’s where Amazon has actually surprised me. I went looking for pieces that felt genuinely collected. Not matchy, not mass-produced looking and found more than I expected.
