An Autumn Color Story and My Fall Aesthetic

The weather is finally cooling off here in Ohio (although not so much this week) and that means fall is here! My absolute favorite time of the year. My aesthetic seems to be shifting a bit this fall. Both in how I’m decorating our home and in what I’m wearing.

I’m gravitating towards warmer cozy feeling colors like chocolate brown, rust, and marigold. Colors I don’t typically wear or decorate with.

A recent example of this is the fabrics I selected to reupholster our thrift store furniture finds. I selected a ticking stripe in Cafe brown for our sofa. A floral block print in olive green and mustard. And a sumptuous velvet in the color Umber which has deep rusty orangy/brown undertones.

Today I’m sharing a round up of some of my recent finds and purchases. This warmer color story is quickly becoming my fall aesthetic and I LOVE it.

My Fall Aesthetic

1. I spotted the Sally Half Zip Sweat in Varley’s recent email and it was an immediate add to cart. It’s made with their signature DoubleSoft® fabric in the color Coffee. I think I’ve worn it just about every weekend since it arrived.
2. I’ve had my eye on the Jordan Table Lamp from Lulu Georgia for a while now. I love the cute little floral block lamp shade and the warmth the brass-plated base adds to the piece.
3. Madewell has quite a few shoes on their website that I’ve got saved to my cart. These Emilie Slingback Pumps in Russet are such a beautiful color for fall.
4. The Mauree Velvet Pillow in Sangria from Lulu and Georgia is so rich in color and texture. I love the little ruffle detail and the fact that it comes in a lumbar size as well. Other gorgeous colors for fall include Olive, Mustard, and Chestnut.
5. The striped Lanie Linen Bolster Pillow has been in my cart for a while and it might finally be time to pull the trigger. I would love a set of these in Russet to sit on our upholstered dining room chairs.
6. When I ordered the Sally Half Zip from Varley I also ordered their Raina Fleece Cap in Black. Perfect for throwing on to run errands on the weekends.
7. I love a yummy fall candle and the Salted Honey Jar Candle from Hearth & Hand™ with Magnolia is a fav. I first discovered it last year and plan to stock up again this year.
8. Trays are so versatile and great to have on hand for styling on all surfaces. I love this small scalloped marble tray. The deep rich burgundy color is just gorgeous for fall.
9. I collect blue and white plates and recently added some lavender and red to my collection as well. When I spotted this gorgeous floral earthenware platter in dark olive on Zara, I thought it would make a great addition to my collection. They also have a blue and a lovely brown version as well as other sizes.
10. I’ve been looking for a loafer for a while now and ordered a couple that didn’t end up working out. It’s been hard finding a pair that doesn’t rub against the side of my ankle bone. These slip on loafers in light brown are so comfortable and flexible though. They come in a bunch of colors and I’d love to grab these in yellow and green as well.
11. My love for Varley runs deep and when I saw this Toni Fine Knit Polo while scrolling their site I fell hard. I love the style and the color was right on brand for my fall aesthetic. They were out of the small and medium so I took a chance and ordered the large. Thinking it could work since it’s a more fitted style, and it’s a perfect fit.
12. A pretty vase is always something I’m on the hunt for. I have dried hydrangeas from our garden that are a creamy white color with pink and brown tones. They would look stunning against the brown of this ceramic double handled vase. A perfect fall find!
13. I’ve found quite a few second hand lamps for our home but nothing I love for our living room. I love that this Chelsea Table Lamp in brass is adjustable and has a USB charger built-in. Love it when form and function meet to create something beautiful.
14. Made of iron, this Tejada Planter Pot has a great ruffled shape and beautiful movement in the color that’s created through the oxidation process.
15. I’m already thinking about new accessories for our soon to be reupholstered sofa and loveseat. This Dotti Linen Pillow in olive would be so pretty against the ticking stripe in cafe brown on our new sofa.
16. And since tapestry is still so popular and really adds character and an old world feel to a room, this Mariata Lumbar Pillow in Amber would be beautiful as well.
17. I’m that weirdo in the store that scans each bundle of Kleenex to find the one with the most aesthetically pleasing patterns. Now I don’t have to any more. I found this beautiful fluted faux leather green tissue box cover. I purchased a rectangle and also a square one in green. They have a handful of other colors too.
